Sanjar Yusupov, General Director
As descendants of a merchant family, the hosts have always wanted to recreate the dwelling of their ancestors who lived in Bukhara in the end of the 19th century. This was not an easy journey as they had to start from reconstruction of old carpets and susane (handmade silk embroidery), which have played a great role in the creation of the hotel's interior.Being pioneers of such style, the hosts have faced great difficulty in finding masters who could execute traditional craftwork of that period. As a result of their work, the hotel reflects the true spirit of that epoch and guests will be able to learn about traditional Bukharian craftwork.
It is the earnest hope of the family that their efforts and the love devoted to the construction of the hotel will leave a lasting impression on its guests even as they experience the warmth of the family's hospitality.
Boutique Hotel Minzifa has taken an active role in the revival and promotion of local traditional practices.
For the creation of Hotel Minzifa, the owners of the hotel have taken the idea of restoring a traditional 19th century Bukharian house and reviving the original colours and crafts of that period. As a result, the design of the hotel has included many elements of traditional Uzbek, and Bukharian, architectural styles such as "tokcha" (patterned niches in the walls made of plaster), "kirma" (traditional carving on plaster), "kandakori" (carving on wood) and traditional embroidery. To bring the whole idea to reality, the owners of the hotel employed local masters, where they have faced difficulties because many of the traditional styles have been lost since the 19th century. Yet, despite all the difficulties faced, Boutique Hotel Minzifa presents a remarkable masterpiece of traditional architecture and design, the whole idea of which is to share and promote local genuine culture with its rich traditional practices and incomparable national flavour.
